Wishing Spring Returns To Watery Roots

THE MORNING NEWS

Back by popular demand, the Wishing Spring Art & Craft Gallery on the edge of Bella Vista will host its Art on the Creek spring arts and crafts sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. About 30 regional vendors from places like Oklahoma, Missouri and Tennessee will be joining the 45 local artists on display inside the gallery to show their original creations.

After putting on smaller, indoor spring sales for the past few years, members of the Village Art Club — the nonprofit sponsor of the gallery — decided to once again get into the fresh air with vendor booths and a fair feel.

"It's just such a beautiful area down there," says Misty Baker, coordinator for the show. The gallery is located at the intersection of U.S. 71 and Benton County 40, along the edge of the new walking trail.

The fair will feature about outdoor and indoor booths, including one food vendor who will be offering items like burgers and chicken. A local Girl Scout troop that is sponsored by the art club will have some of their artwork on display, too, Baker says. "They're all working toward badges."

And a special feature of the event will be a display for the Big Frame-Up competition; a number of antique frames were donated to the club, and members were challenged to decorate them in any way they wanted, Baker says. "We'll let the community come out and judge on the ones they thought turned out the greatest."

Admission to Art on the Creek is free, as is parking, which will be directed by attendants. The money raised through the booth rentals and Big Frame-Up and gallery sales will all go toward art scholarships and support of the arts in Northwest Arkansas, Baker says. The volunteer-run organization is "supporting the artisans that are now and in the future."

The event will be a lot of fun, Baker says happily. "And, you know, it's not too far away from Christmas!"
